Both lived and dürüdü
A 12-year-old boy who had a large part of his skull shattered in a traffic accident and whose doctors said "he can't live, even if he lives, he can't eat or talk" has regained his health with a successful operation.
12-year-old C.B.S. was seriously injured in 2014 when he was hit by a speeding pickup truck while walking on the road with his mother. The boy, who had a large part of his skull shattered in the accident, was revived after 40 days in intensive care. However, his health problems continued. Mother G.S. stated that her son's first surgery was performed after the accident, and in the second surgery, the shattered skull was closed with an artificial bone, but serious problems were experienced because the brain membrane could not be repaired. He stated that due to the incompatibility of the artificial bone and the skin, he had constant swelling in his head, he had to travel with a bandage and that he had constant fluid coming from his head, which was not cured even though it was sown with a syringe. Üçünthü said that a shunt was inserted in his waist during the operation, but this did not work either.
40 degree fever
Mother G.S. said that they went to the hospital when her son's complaints continued, but after the controls they were sent back saying that there was no problem. He stated that they were offered trial-and-error solutions in their last application and that his son struggled with a fever of 40 degrees for 40 days and that no solution could be found. He stated that they reached a specialist in the field of neurosurgery upon recommendation and that his son regained his health after the surgery.
7-hour surgery
Stating that the brain surgery lasted for about seven hours, the mother said that her son will no longer have swelling in his head and no fluid will come from his head. He stated that he had not been able to sleep on his left side for four years, and now he could sleep as he wanted and continue his schooling. Dördüncü emphasized that the brain was affected to some extent after the surgery, that he had a learning disability, but that this would improve over time and that the most important thing was that he was alive.
Installed artificial skull bone
C.B.S.’s complaints included slurred speech, weakness on the right side, inability to eat and swelling on the left side of the head. It was stated that he had previously undergone critical surgeries, and in the examinations performed, an increase in pressure and enlargement of the brain water channels due to hydrocephalus were detected. Firstly, a thin silicone tubing system extending from the brain to the abdomen was inserted to drain the fluid accumulated in the brain and balance the pressure, then the meninges causing swelling on the left side of the brain were repaired and an artificial skull bone was placed instead of the shattered skull bone. It was stated that after the gradual adjustment of the shunt pressure after the surgery, the patient was able to return to his daily life.
