Slipped Waist

What are the symptoms of a slipped back?

Patients may present with lower back, buttock and leg pain. They complain of discomfort radiating to the back of the thigh and calf and the soles of the feet. The intensity of these pains increases when bending forward and decreases when bending backward. Typically, these patients eat with a slight inclination towards the front. numbness in the feet, limitation of movement, difficulty in walking and sitting,  frequent pain while eating  lumbar pain they may experience pain and have to stop. Standing for too long or cramps in the legs in the evening can also be among the symptoms of slipped back.

What are the causes of slipped back?

There are many causes. These include slips due to degeneration in old age, slips that develop after surgery, and slips that develop in childhood due to congenital problems in the vertebrae. These types of slips can cause low back pain in adolescence. It is more common in women than in men. Other causes include blows to the lower back, uncontrolled falls (common in athletes, especially gymnasts, weightlifters and soccer players), and repetitive micro trauma.

How is the diagnostic process for slipped back?

After the examination of the patient by a neurosurgeon or a physical therapist, radiography, tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations may be requested. For lumbar slippage, especially the results of tests performed by moving radiography (bending forward, bending backwards, etc.) and MRI examination are important. The degree of slippage and the degree of compression with herniated disc can be determined.

What are the non-surgical methods for slipped discs?

The degree of slippage is classified as mild, moderate and severe. Depending on the degree of slipped back and the severity of the complaints, treatment is performed in various ways.

Treatment of slipped discs may include rest, painkillers and anti-spasm medication if the slip is mild, restriction of daily activities and, if necessary, a lumbar corset. A lumbar corset can help reduce pain and relieve spasm. It is important to strengthen the muscles in the lumbar region with a physical therapy and rehabilitation program. If there is nerve compression with low back pain, epidural or foraminal injections performed by the algology bölümü can be added to the treatment.

When is surgery necessary in the treatment of slipped back?

Surgical treatment is considered in cases that cannot be resolved with medical treatment and additional applications. In the surgical treatment of slipped back, the nerves in the slipped area are released and the vertebrae are fixed to each other (platinum-screw system) to prevent the progression of the slip. With techniques called spinal fusion, the slipped vertebrae are fixed with screws. The operation can be performed from the front or back or from both sides. Postoperative rehabilitation programs can be useful in accelerating the recovery process.

Lumbar slippage is the displacement of the spine on top of each other. It can occur at any age and is often seen as a slippage of the L4 vertebrae towards the L5 vertebrae. Slipped discs can often be accompanied by herniated disc and narrow canal. Recently, lumbar slipped disc surgery is performed in patients who are suitable for fully closed endoscopic surgical treatment.
