Spinal Cord Tümörü
Tumors that develop in the spinal cord and spinal column can cause different symptoms depending on their location and the pressure on the spinal cord and nerve cords. Early evaluation is important to protect nerve tissue, control pain and determine the appropriate treatment plan.
Spinal Cord Tümörü Symptoms
Symptoms may increase over time and pain is often the first symptom. Depending on the level of Tümörün, complaints related to the arm, leg, or gövde may be observed.
Frequent complaints
-
Neck/back/waist pain (not relieved at rest, may increase over time)
-
Numbness or tingling in the arms or legs
-
Decreased muscle strength, fatigue, increased fatigue, inability to walk, and increased fatigue
-
Balance issues
-
Change in urinary or bowel control
-
Significant neurological deficits in advanced cases
Why Does Spinal Cord Tümörü Happen?
A single cause cannot be identified in every case. Some types of tumors may originate from the spinal cord, while others may spread (metastasize) from another part of the body to the spine.
How is the diagnosis made?
Diagnosis begins with the evaluation of complaints and neurological examination. Subsequently, visualization methods are used to clarify the location, spread and effect on nerve tissue.
Available methods
-
MRI of the spine (most basic examination)
-
CT (bone structure evaluation)
-
Additional tests to investigate spread in patients with cancer
-
Nerve conduction/electrophysiologic tests in some patients
Treatment Options
Treatment is planned individually according to the type of tümörürün, its location, its size, size, weight and weight, the patient's complaints and general condition.
Surgical treatment
In appropriate cases, the aim is to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves and, if possible, to remove them safely. Some patients may require additional procedures to maintain the stability of the spine.
Radiotherapy
In some tümörs, it can be planned as a stand-alone treatment after surgery or in selected cases. Targeted radiosurgery options can be evaluated in appropriate patients.
Ilaç treatment
Depending on the tümörün's türün, medical treatments (e.g. chemotherapy) may be considered. Planning is based on pathology results and overall oncologic evaluation.
Rehabilitation and pain management
Physical therapy/rehabilitation and, if necessary, pain management can be planned to support the process of returning to a healthy lifestyle.
