Beware of Severe Headache

Brain aneurysm can be ölümcül by causing bleeding

An aneurysm in the brain can cause cerebral hemorrhage and can be very dangerous. Neurosurgeon and neurosurgeon Prof. Dr. Selçuk Göçmen stated that patients usually come to the emergency room with complaints of headache, head dön and vomiting, “Patients express that it is the most severe headache in their lives” he said.

Stating that one of the biggest problems after an aneurysm is the deterioration of the brain's nutrition as a result of the shrinkage of the vessels, Göçmen said that this can lead to a severe clinical picture known as stroke.

One of the patients E.P. (42), described his experience as follows:
“I had a 10-hour surgery, I survived a very difficult time.”

Aneurysm is defined as a thin and weak-walled bubble in the brain, usually located at the branching points of large arteries. Although it can also occur in other arteries of the body, it is mostly seen in the brain vessels. When the pressure inside the bubble increases, the vessel ruptures, resulting in cerebral hemorrhage.

Thousands of people in Turkey suffer from aneurysm bleeding every year and about 10 percent of these patients die before reaching the hospital. One of these patients, E.P., stated that he was a father of two children and had been suffering from hypertension for a long time.

Suddenly Fainted

Explaining that one day he suddenly became ill while watching television at home, E.P. described her experiences as follows:
"Suddenly I felt a severe pain in my head. There was a pressure in my head. I told my wife, "I am not well." I immediately took a shower, then my wife called a friend and we went to the hospital. My blood pressure had risen to 17. Doctors intervened immediately, injections were given, medications were given. Then I underwent tomography.”

Physicians detected cerebral hemorrhage in the tests and took the patient to intensive care unit. Later, during further examinations, a bubble with an irregular structure was detected in one of the main vessels feeding the brain. It was explained to the patient and his family that the surgery was necessary, although it was risky.

Headache, Headache Symptoms

Prof. Dr. Selçuk Göçmen, a specialist in neurosurgery and neurosurgery, stated that such patients usually present with headaches and dizziness and said:

“Our patient had a cerebral hemorrhage on emergency brain tomography. He was immediately hospitalized in intensive care unit. Further examinations revealed a large and irregular bubble originating from the main vessel feeding the brain. This risky surgery was successfully completed and the treatment process was started.”

Emphasizing that the biggest risk in the postoperative period is vasospasm, Göçmen stated that this condition can disrupt the nutrition of the brain and should be followed carefully.

“My life was hanging by a thread”

Saying that what he experienced was a great realization for him, E.P., “A bubble formed in my brain vessels. Doctors told me that living with this is a big risk. For this reason, I underwent surgery. I wanted to stay with my wife and my children. Now I have my checkups regularly. It is very nice to be with my family," he said.
